Theseus was a brave prince of Athens. Every nine years, the city had to send young men and women to the island of Crete, where they were trapped in a maze called the Labyrinth and hunted by the terrible Minotaur, a monster with the body of a man and the head of a bull.

Theseus volunteered to go, determined to kill the Minotaur and end the sacrifice forever. Before entering the Labyrinth, he received a ball of thread from Princess Ariadne. She told him to tie one end at the entrance and unwind it as he walked through the maze.

Deep inside the Labyrinth, Theseus found the Minotaur. After a fierce battle, he defeated the monster. He then followed Ariadne's thread back to the entrance, leading the others safely out of the maze. Theseus returned to Athens as a hero, having freed his people from the terrible tribute.

Moral: Courage, intelligence, and accepting help from others can overcome even the greatest challenges.
