Thoughts & Observations #4
In the process of reading Verbal Advantage by Charles Harrington Elster. Ironic that he’s parents whom loved language made a living as musicians wound up with a son who loved music but makes his living with words. Today’s takeaways include the word “adept” meaning skilled - originating from the Latin word “adeptus” an alchemist who learnt how to do the impossible - changing base metals into gold. Candid - expressing thoughts more open & straightforward. Sullen - when you refuse to speak or associate with people because you’re in a bad mood. Recommend me a book for my next read.
