your light, matters 🪻🍯
hey, it’s a late post, but this is my post for su**ide prevention day.
i don’t believe su**ide prevention should stop in a day or a month. i believe it should be a constant reminder that you are not alone and there is always hope.
i’ve lost people i’ve loved to su**ide, and it is not easy. not for those who are struggling and dealing with those thoughts, and not for the loved ones who are left behind.
the people left behind often face immense guilt and shame for not seeing the signs, not knowing what someone was going through, or feeling like they weren’t able to help. hey, guilty as charged. it’s a kind of guilt that can stay with you, wondering what you could have noticed or done differently.
but that is also why i think conversations like this matter so much.
you are not alone. there are resources, people, friends, family members, professionals, and even strangers who are willing to listen and help you through the moments where everything feels too heavy.
please know that even in your darkest moments, you are a light that lights up the world for those of us who love you the most.
whether it’s your friends, your family, someone online who looks forward to seeing you, or even a stranger that smiled at you one day, your presence can mean more than you realize.
you deserve to be here. you deserve to be heard. you deserve support. and asking for help does not make you weak.
please check on the people you love, even the ones who seem okay. listen to them. remind them that they matter. and if you’re the person struggling right now, please reach out to someone.
my friend latte has put together a linktree with tons of resources please check them out https://linktr.ee/lavenderlatte
su**ide prevention shouldn’t only matter for one day, one week, or one month. let it be a constant reminder to be a little kinder, check in a little more, listen a little longer, and remind the people around you that they are loved.
you are not alone. there is always hope.
